Position Overview:
Serve as the overall safety leader for the company, achieving high level results by providing overall strategic leadership, and embrace continuous improvement methodologies to build a strong company-wide safety culture. To develop, implement, and manage effective safety programs, as well as meet all customer and applicable local, state, and federal rules and regulations.
Essential Functions:
- Provide overall strategic leadership to set the direction of the company’s program
- Partner with executives, managers and team members to promote participation and bring a cohesive approach to the safety program
- Drive the operational implementation of strategies and initiatives in a way that builds a company-wide safety and compliance culture
- Oversee and enforce compliance with all customer, OSHA, Local/State ordinances, and DOT Regulations including NFPA, NEC, NIOSH, and PHA recommendations pertaining to company operations
- Review internal health & safety programs, procedures, and policies to ensure they are current and appropriate; conduct hazard and risk assessments and make changes as appropriate
- Provide analysis of trends/data and provide recommendations for follow-up and action
- Work with location managers to manage and reduce workers compensation claims and ensure appropriate return to work, work transfer, and fit for duty programs
- Manage accident investigation and reporting program to prevent recurrence of incidents and to ensure information is shared adequately across all locations. Revise procedures as appropriate
- Develop and implement compliance audits of operations for all locations to ensure company and regulatory requirements are being met and report findings to executive management and business leaders
- Provide written reports, as well as other production-related results/metrics and updates
- Attend relevant industry conferences and professional meetings to maintain professional competencies and benchmark company performance
- Identify innovations and best practices and implement them to fit the company
- Monitor and oversee quality assurance & safety training program managers
Qualifications:

Education |
Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in industrial safety and health, safety engineering or safety management |

Experience
|
Required: 10 years of progressive experience in safety management preferably in the installation and maintenance of natural gas distribution systems Preferred: Professional Certification such as: CSP – Certified Safety Professional, OSHA – Train the Trainer Qualified (General Industry) or ASC – Advanced Safety Certificate

Special Knowledge/ Skills |
Required: Thorough knowledge of Environmental, Safety, DOT and OSHA regulations and compliance. Strong leadership skills and the ability to work in an open and consultative manner. Ability to drive change through all levels of the organization. Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, and analytical skills as well as have the ability to interact effectively with Corporate Executives, Managers, Team Leaders and Team Members. Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook.
